A girl should talk to her mom, older sister, or another trusted adult female about when to get her first bra. Typically, girls like the support a bra has, especially for playing sports. Girls will want to take their trusted female adult or older sister with them to buy their first bra. Girls usually start with a training bra, which helps them get used to wearing a bra but doesn't provide much support. As a girl's breasts grow, she might try different bras, such as one with wires inside, which gives more support. A sports bra gives more support, so a girl can play sports, although some girls who don't play sports like to wear them, too. Sports bras come in small, medium, and large sizes. Other bras are sized by cup sizes. Cup sizes range from AA to EE.

It is recommended to get your size measured by a "lingerie specialist." They will measure you with your shirt on. Girls should be able to fit two fingers under the strap, with the hooks between the strap and their back. A bra that’s loose or tight won't be useful and might cause a pinch.
