Girls can do what they usually do during their period, such as swimming or other activities. Girls can have cramps, abdominal or back pain, nausea, or diarrhea. A warm-water bath or a heating pad can ease menstrual cramps. Exercise and drinking plenty of liquids can also help relieve pain. Medications, such as Ibuprofen, can help. If a girl gets very sick or pain stays after treatment during her period, she should tell a trusted adult and seek medical help. Some girls get premenstrual syndrome (PMS) before their periods and might have bad moods or want to eat specific foods. Not having caffeine and exercising can help.
